Blue Ridge Creativity Photo retouching

RETOUCHING AND ENHANCEMENT

IMPORTANT: Retouching and Enhancement includes the corrections described under Basic Restoration at no additional cost. However, if a higher level of restoration is required to produce a desirable image, we will notify you before proceeding.

HELPFUL TIPS: If possible, use an office copier to make a paper print of the photo. Mark the necessary changes and instructions on the paper print. Indicate the colors you want for specific items (especially hair, eyes, clothing, cars, houses, etc.). Circle items you want to keep and cross out items you want to delete. Or provide a detailed written description. We will use artistic license for common items unless you specify otherwise.

The most often sought modifications and reworking are shown in these examples. If you want something done that isn’t displayed here, it can probably be done. Contact us with your questions. We welcome challenges.

COLORIZING BLACK and WHITE PHOTO

This photo was stored in a vinyl album sleeve for over 30 years. Vapors from the vinyl caused the colors to shift. An attempt to filter out the red shift revealed that there was also hidden mottling, which would have been very difficult to repair. Instead, we temporarily converted the image to black and white, then added hand tinting, with the help of the client’s memory. The result, according to the client, is “just like being there.”

If someone you love has become a memory, here’s an idea for an unusual tribute. We can fade the image of that individual, while leaving the remainder of the photo unchanged, as shown in this example.
