PHOTO RESTORATION
Using a high-resolution digital scanner and industry-standard photo software, we can reverse the ravages of time on nearly any photograph. The appeal of digital restoration is that the original photo remains totally unchanged and unharmed, while you receive a beautifully restored likeness, even multiple copies if you desire.
You have the opportunity to specify the level of restoration you prefer, choosing one of our four restoration categories. When we receive your photo, we will evaluate it according to its condition. If we determine that the level you’ve chosen will not result in a satisfactory image, we will consult with you about our recommendation before proceeding.

BASIC RESTORATION

A photo in the basic restoration category receives the following corrections as required:
- Correct contrast
- Correct red-eye (color images)
- Remove minor scratches
- Remove minor effects of dust/dirt/mold
- Correct minor fading or yellowing (black and white images)
- Correct minor staining
- Correct minor color shift (color images)

A photo in the advanced restoration category receives the following corrections as required:
- All of the steps in Basic Restoration, plus
- Repair small damaged area
- Correct heavy yellowing
- Correct heavy fading
- Correct heavy staining
- Correct heavy color shift
- Correct minor wrinkling in non-critical areas

A photo in the detailed restoration category receives the following corrections as required:
- All of the steps in Basic and Advanced Restoration, plus
- Correct heavy wrinkles in detailed areas (faces, for instance)
- Correct heavy scratching, spotting, staining or mold
- Replace minor missing area

A photo in the major reconstruction category is in extremely poor condition and receives the following corrections as required:
- All of the steps in Basic, Advanced and Detailed Restoration, plus
- Reconstruction of missing areas (may involve substitution)
- Re-assembly of torn pieces
LOST CAUSES
Frankly, there is the occasional photo that cannot be restored, regardless of the effort put into it. A photograph that is out of focus cannot be restored into focus, nor can a hopelessly overexposed photo be restored to show detail that’s not there. When we encounter such a photo, we respectfully decline working on it. There is no point of a futile effort that will please no one. The original will be returned in its as-received condition. There is no charge for this evaluation, other than return postage.
